WHITE WATER NATIVE SEEDS

Genetically Diverse Native Tree and Shrub Seeds Responsibly Sourced

White Water Native Seeds is a small, two-person operation with over 40 years of seed collecting experience. We supply nurseries, landowners, and individual growers with native tree and shrub seeds that are genetically variable, regionally appropriate, and harvested with care.

WHITE WATER FARM

We have been tree and shrub seed collectors for 40 + years. We started collecting seeds from around our local area. With the passage of time it became harder and harder to source our seeds due to the growing trend of clearing more land to grow monoculture crops. In 2002 we decided to start our own seed orchard. Many of the trees and shrubs planted originated from seeds we had collected and cuttings from native stands to ensure the genetic variability stayed present.

Today we collect seeds largely from our own land but have access to many other local sites. Seed collecting is a constantly changing endeavor. So much depends on the weather; be it an usually warm or cold winter, weather conditions at time of pollination, thru the growing season or when it is time to harvest the seeds. We also have to contend with insect/animal cycles and the constant threat of pesticide drift.

We accept seed orders prior to harvest. If we have surplus seeds we will list the seeds in our store.

Nurseries & Growers

We work primarily with local and regional nurseries looking for a focused selection of native species in meaningful quantities. Because every seed lot gets personal attention from two people who have been doing this for decades, you know exactly where your seeds came from and why they were chosen. Contact us to talk through what you need and we'll be honest about what we can provide.

Restoring a woodland, replanting a hedgerow, or establishing a native planting on your property? We're happy to talk through what species make sense for your site and let you know what we expect to have available that season.

Interested in a specific native species for your garden? Reach out and ask. We'll do our best to let you know if it's something we're harvesting, though availability does vary year to year depending on weather and growing conditions.

Straight Talk on Availability

Responsibly Sourced

Our seeds come primarily from our own orchard, established from wild-collected stock to maintain genetic variability, as well as trusted local sites we've worked for years. This isn't commodity seed. It's collected by hand, by people who know the land.

We collect from multiple individuals within each population. That's not incidental, it's intentional. Every seed lot is handled with genetic integrity in mind, from collection through to the bag you receive.

Seed collecting depends on weather, pollinators, wildlife, and variables nobody controls. We won't tell you we have something we don't, and we'll let you know early when a season is looking uncertain. Two people, one honest conversation at a time.
